You can move a reservation from one listing to another by making the change either in Guesty or in the relevant channel, depending on where the reservation originated from.
Before you begin
- For a reservation in a "Confirmed" status, moving the reservation to another listing will not affect the reservation price, even if the new listing has a lower or higher price. Fees and taxes also remain the same and don't change according to the new listing’s pricing.
- For a reservation in "Inquiry" or "Reserved" status, moving the reservation triggers a recalculation of the price per night as well as fees and taxes.
- Auto tasks assigned to the original listing are canceled, and new tasks are created based on the new listing's auto tasks setup.
- If Smart Calendar Rules were triggered for the original listing, the blocks remain on connected listings even if the reservation is moved. Contact us to remove the block.
Limitations
When moving a reservation, you can select a listing if:
- It's available for the reservation dates.
- It has a "flexible" block, which can be overridden.
- It's in the same city as the original listing.
- It uses the same currency as the original listing. You can change the listing's currency if needed.
When moving a reservation, you won't be able to select a listing if:
- The number of guests in the reservation exceeds the listing’s maximum occupancy. Learn here how to change a listing's occupancy.
- The reservation's dates on the destination listing are manually blocked. Unblock the relevant dates if needed.
- The listing is under an inflexible block.
- The number of minimum/maximum nights set on the destination listing is lower than that of the original listing. Learn how to change the minimum/maximum nights on the destination listing's calendar.

If you’re unable to assign a listing, check our troubleshooting article.
How to relocate a reservation
Read below on how each channel handles relocating a reservation to a different listing.
Channel | Where to make changes | Notes |
---|---|---|
Airbnb | Via the channel or Guesty | |
Booking.com | Via the channel or Guesty | |
Vrbo | Via the channel or Guesty | If you have a limited sync connection type, change the assigned listing in Vrbo. If you have a full sync connection type, change the listing in Guesty. |
Direct and manual sources | Via Guesty |
Relocate a reservation
The new listing will be blocked in Guesty and the channel, and the block will automatically be removed from the original listing’s calendar on both Guesty and the channel.
Via the channel
See below for information on relocating via the relevant channels.
To make alterations to an Airbnb reservation, ask your guest to send an alteration request via Airbnb. Once you receive it, approve or decline the alteration request in Airbnb.
You can make the changes in Guesty; however, they will not be synced to Airbnb. Additionally, changing the reservation’s assigned listing in Guesty will disable the reservation’s messaging and payment setup. The block won't be removed from the original listing on Airbnb, but the new assigned listing will be blocked as well.
Only the guest can change the room in their reservation to another room in the same listing (i.e., a different Room ID under the same Hotel ID). The change automatically syncs to Guesty.
To move the reservation to a different listing (i.e., from one Hotel ID to another), cancel the existing reservation in Booking.com and create it again with the updated listing. The new reservation will then sync to Guesty.
Via Guesty
Follow the instructions below to relocate a reservation via Guesty.
Step by step
- Sign in to your Guesty account.
- In the top navigation bar, click More, then select Reservations.
- Click the relevant reservation.
- For Airbnb reservations, click
, then select Edit reservation. For other reservations, click
.
- Remove the current listing by clicking X next to its name under "Listing".
- Select the new listing from the dropdown menu.
- Click Save.
Deactivated listing relocation
When moving reservations from a deactivated or decommissioned listing, we recommend creating a reservations report of reservations assigned to the deactivated listing to ensure you transfer all relevant reservations.
Mid-stay relocation
You can't relocate an ongoing reservation to another listing if the new listing has been occupied during the previous days of the reservation.
To overcome this, you can split the reservation. We recommend shortening the dates of the current reservation, ending it on the day of the split, and creating a new reservation for the second listing, starting from the day of the split until the end of the stay.
