The Multi-Calendar enables you to schedule, organize, and track events across your listings, with each event represented as a block on the calendar. Blocks mark reserved periods of at least one day for a specific listing and can originate from various sources, including confirmed reservations, Smart Calendar Rules, owner reservations, and calendar settings like advance notice and preparation time.
There are two types of blocks on the Multi-Calendar. Some blocks, referred to "inflexible" blocks, are restrictive and prevent complications such as double bookings. Other blocks, referred to as "flexible" blocks, are assigned to events that can be overridden. Hover over a block to view a tooltip displaying the event type in the title.
Learn below to understand the type of block appearing on the Multi-Calendar, and how you can remove it if needed.
Inflexible blocks
A reservation in confirmed/reserved status
When a reservation is received in Guesty, a block is created on the relevant dates, partially covering the check-in date and the check-out date, and fully covering the days in between. This type of block is “inflexible,” meaning that other events cannot be scheduled for that time in the listing.
If you wish to remove this type of block, for example, if you need to make the listing available for another reservation, consider moving the blocking reservation to another listing, or changing the blocking reservation to inactive status (such as "closed"). An inactive status will remove the block from the calendar.

Smart Calendar Rules
Once you set Smart Calendar Rules, a confirmed reservation in one listing will block the same dates in a connected listing.
If Smart Calendar Rules were triggered, the block will remain on the relevant dates for the connected listing, even if you move the reservation to another listing. For example, if listing A triggered a Smart Calendar Rule to block listing B, and later you change the reservation’s assigned listing from listing A to listing C, the block on listing B will remain. In this case, contact us to remove the block.
Blocks for early check-in or late check-out
You can set automatic blocks for reservations with early check-in or late check-out times, or add them manually. If a reservation is received before or after the check-in/check-out times you defined, the night before or after the reservation will automatically get blocked. You can remove a specific block from the relevant reservation page.
Flexible blocks
A flexible block, identified as a gray-striped block in the calendar, is a designated time period restricting calendar availability, which can be adjusted or overridden. You can manually create reservations or move a reservation from one listing to another over a flexible block.
The following are considered flexible blocks:
- Manually blocked dates
- Dates outside the listing's booking window or availability period
- Dates within the listing's preparation time block
- Dates that don't meet the listing's advance notice
- Imported events from an iCal calendar
You can adjust and remove flexible blocks via the Multi-Calendar, unless it originated from iCal. Flexible blocks imported from iCal can be overridden by making a manual reservation. To remove iCal flexible blocks, delete them from the iCal, which will then sync with Guesty
When creating a manual reservation, if you select dates that are under a flexible block, you'll be notified of the override on the setup page. Click the dropdown arrow to read more about the override.

Do inquiries block the calendar?
Inquiries do not block the calendar.
An inquiry status is used when the guest asks the host a general question but hasn't submitted a formal booking request. Inquiries contain dates, listing names, and the number of guests, but do not have a reservation number, and they do not affect the calendar.
When creating a manual reservation, you can set its status to “Inquiry” if choosing not to reserve the dates for the guest. This status can be used when sending a quote.
For some channels (such as Vrbo, and Airbnb), a guest can send you an inquiry, which can be manually approved. The calendar will be blocked only if you change the "Inquiry" status to "Confirmed".
