Troubleshooting: Common connection issues

The information in this article is relevant only for the Vrbo limited sync connection type.

If you encounter issues while connecting your Vrbo account to Guesty, try these troubleshooting solutions.

Authentication issues

Issue Solution
"Unrecognized credentials" error
Verification code not received
  • Verify your phone number is correctly registered with Vrbo
  • Check for cellular reception issues. Follow our browser issues troubleshooting guide.
  • Wait 2-3 minutes and request a new code
Account lockout
  • Wait 30 minutes before reattempting
  • Reset your password through Vrbo's website
  • Contact Vrbo support to verify account status

Listing connection issues

Issue Solution
Listings stuck in "Pending" status
  • Allow up to 2 hours for initial connection
  • Verify no other Property Management System (PMS) is connected to your Vrbo account:
    1. Log in to Vrbo.
    2. Navigate to "Account Settings".
    3. Ensure Guesty is the only PMS listed. If another PMS appears, it may interfere with the sync and should be removed.
  • Check if your Vrbo listings are properly published:
    1. Log in to Vrbo.
    2. Check your "Listings" tab.
    3. Ensure the status of each listing is set to "Published".
    4. Refer to step 9 for listings that are not "Published". 
Missing listings
  • Ensure listings are created and active on both platforms:
    • In Guesty, the listing is listed
    • In Vrbo, the listing is "Published" and not hidden or archived
  • Verify listing addresses are the same across platforms
  • Check and resolve any listing restrictions on either platform. For example, if an account is suspended or deactivated.
Email integration problems
  • Verify the integration email is correctly added in Vrbo
  • Check that the email format matches across platforms
  • Allow up to 24 hours for email forwarding to activate fully

Issues connecting additional accounts

You can connect multiple Vrbo accounts to Guesty. If you already connected Vrbo to Guesty and can't locate the Create account option to connect an additional account, this is due to recent platform updates that temporarily affect account creation for existing users. This change is part of our initiative to improve the Vrbo connection experience.

Your connected account is not affected by these changes.
