You can manually change the status of a reservation via Guesty to confirm or decline reservations. Different statuses have different effects on the calendar.

Limitations and prerequisites
- Once a reservation is confirmed, you can't change its status to "Reserved", "Inquiry", or "Awaiting Payment".
- Once a reservation is set to an inactive status (such as "Closed", "Declined", or "Canceled"), it can't be reverted to an active status. Instead, create a new reservation and update it with the relevant status.
- Check that your listing isn't disconnected to ensure status changes sync with booking channels.

Vrbo
After connecting your Vrbo account with Guesty, you no longer receive an email notification from Vrbo when a reservation is confirmed. To receive a notification, set up an automated message to be sent at booking confirmation. Approving or declining a reservation in Guesty may take up to 24 hours to sync to Vrbo.
Changes you can make to a reservation’s status

Close a reservation
You can manually change an active reservation status, such as "Confirmed", "Reserved", or "Inquiry", to an inactive status such as "Closed", "Canceled", or "Declined". Once the status is inactive, the block is removed from the calendar.
Approve a reservation
Once a reservation is confirmed, the dates are blocked in all connected channels.
A manual reservation can be confirmed regardless of other limitations set in Guesty, such as advance notice, booking window settings, a listing's maximum occupancy, or the minimum/maximum nights per stay. Confirming the reservation overrides these requirements or restrictions.
Confirming a "Reserved" reservation
A "Reserved" status blocks the calendar for the selected dates, for a specified period.
- Reservations from channels with a request to book policy are received in Guesty with a "Reserved" status. Change the reservation's status to "Confirmed" or "Closed".
- Requests to book received from Vrbo or Airbnb guests are set to "Reserved" status. You have 23:50 hours to approve them before they automatically decline. Then, the status changes to "Expired", and the guest receives a message that you’re unable to accept their reservation.
- When creating a manual reservation, you can set its status to "Reserved" and select the length of time for which the calendar will be blocked for the guest's confirmation (between 12 to 72 hours, or indefinitely). If that time expires and the status isn't changed to "Confirmed", the block is automatically removed from the calendar and the status is set to "Expired".
Confirming an Inquiry
An "Inquiry" status doesn't block the calendar.
- When creating a manual reservation, you can set its status to "Inquiry", which doesn't reserve the dates for the guest. To block the calendar, change the status to "Confirmed".
- Vrbo and Airbnb guests can send you an "Inquiry" by clicking "Contact host”. A reservation with "Inquiry" status is then created in Guesty.
- Avoid confirming a Vrbo "Inquiry" (via Guesty or Vrbo). Extra details, such as contact information and payment method, are required when making a Vrbo reservation. Instead, instruct the guest to click "Book now". They will then be able to enter their details and send you a "Quote and Hold" request (or, if you set instant approval, the reservation will automatically be confirmed).
Other statuses
You can change the status of a reservation from "Inquiry" to "Reserved", and vice versa.
Change a reservation status

Follow the steps below to update the reservation status via the reservation page.
Step by step:
- Sign in to your Guesty account.
- In the top navigation bar, click More, then select Reservations.
- Click the relevant reservation.

Next to "Summary", click
.For Airbnb reservations, click
, then select Edit reservation. -
Under "Status", select a status from the dropdown menu.
To confirm a booking request from Airbnb or Vrbo, under "Summary", select Approve.
- Click Save.
Follow the steps below to update your guest contact details via the Multi-calendar and the Inbox.
Step by step:
- Sign in to your Guesty account.
- In the top navigation bar:
- Click Calendar.
- Click Inbox.
- Select the relevant reservation.
- On the right-side panel:
- Multi-Calendar: Click

- Under "Status", click the current reservation status and select the relevant status from the dropdown.
- To cancel a reservation:
- In the pop-up, fill in the relevant information:
- Person cancelling (required): To ensure accurate reports and statements that are calculated based on your cancellation policies and rate plans.

- Notes (optional)
- In the pop-up, click Cancel reservation.
