Switching to a direct connection with Guesty

Use a direct integration to connect Guesty directly to your booking channels or Online Travel Agencies (OTAs). If you previously connected to channels through a channel manager or a different Property Management System (PMS), switching to a direct connection streamlines your operations.

Managing all bookings through Guesty allows you to coordinate reservations, pricing, and availability more efficiently. Follow the instructions below to migrate your listings and sync your data.

Before you begin

  • Data migration limits: Not all information can be migrated to Guesty, and sync capabilities vary by channel. Review our channel-specific sync guides to understand what data is supported for each connection.
  • Create a backup: Before starting the migration, back up your current and future reservations from your previous PMS. You can later fill in a CSV file with your reservation information, and we can upload it to Guesty. 

Overview

Read the outline below to understand the general migration process:

1. Connect your OTA account directly to Guesty

Contact the OTA support team to disconnect the previous PMS. Inform them you are migrating to Guesty. Keep the previous integration active as a backup until the migration is complete, unless the channel specifically instructs you to disconnect first.

2. Connect your listings between Guesty and the OTA

For Airbnb, import your listings directly into Guesty. 

For other channels, you will either link Guesty listings to existing channel listings or publish them as new listings.

3. Sync your reservations and additional data

Once listings are connected, reservations and data sync across platforms. Future reservations typically sync automatically. To import past reservations, you can provide a CSV file for upload or create them manually in Guesty.

For some channels like Vrbo, syncs are not instant. We recommend pausing new reservations or switching to "quote and hold" for 42 hours during the sync to avoid double bookings.

4. Disconnect the integration between the PMS and the booking channel

Follow the instructions below to migrate from the relevant booking channel.

Booking.com

Step by step:

  1. Connect your Booking.com account directly to Guesty.
  2. Switch your connectivity provider from the PMS to Guesty for each of your listings. You can request the assistance of Booking.com support to make a bulk update for all of your listings.
  3. Follow the steps to take before linking listings to Guesty. Then, link your listings in Booking.com to the listings you have in Guesty.

Vrbo

Step by step:

  1. Connect your Vrbo account and listing to Guesty.
  2. Update your listings settings if needed.
  3. Link additional Guesty listings to Vrbo.
