When you process payments through Guesty, two types of fees apply: processing fees and gateway fees. This article explains how these fees are calculated, where to find them, and how they appear on your invoices.
Payment processing fees
A payment processing fee is the cost of moving funds between a guest and your business. This fee is charged by the banks, credit card networks, and the payment processor itself such as Stripe.
Where to find processing fees
Processing fees aren't part of Guesty billing and don't appear on your Guesty invoices. You can view these charges directly in your payment processor's dashboard.
Standard processing fee examples
Processing fees vary by region and processor. For example, Stripe US: 2.9% + 0.30 USD
Payment gateway fees
The payment gateway fee (also known as an application fee) covers the technical infrastructure that enables secure payment processing within the Guesty platform. Guesty charges this fee in addition to the processor's fee.
How gateway fees are collected
The collection method depends on which payment processor you use:
Stripe: Stripe collects this fee on behalf of Guesty. It won't appear on your Guesty invoice. To see it, go to your Stripe Dashboard, navigate to Payments, and hover over the info icon next to the fee amount. Stripe lists this as the "Guesty Application Fee."

Note:
By default, Guesty charges a gateway fee for the first failed payment attempt. Subsequent failed attempts for the same transaction aren't charged.
Review fees in your Guesty invoice
When Guesty collects a gateway fee, your invoice shows the total amount and a detailed breakdown.

Why do I see multiple fees for one reservation?
The gateway fee is charged per transaction. If a reservation has multiple transactions—such as one successful payment and several declined attempts—you will see a charge for each valid transaction attempt.
