Connecting a Stripe account to Guesty

You can process credit card transactions via Guesty by connecting with Stripe. Multiple Stripe accounts can be connected to Guesty, and you can easily choose which account handles the payments for each of your listings.

Guesty uses multiple payment providers, such as Stripe, to process payments, and is PCI-1 Service Provider certified, which is the most stringent level of certification. Learn more about Stripe's security.

Guesty stores credit card data with Stripe and an external token vault service and does not store card data in Guesty systems, only tokens.

While it is possible to process payments and refunds in the payment processor itself, we recommend processing these in Guesty. Refunds that are created in the payment processor, for example, aren't reflected in Guesty.

Before following the steps below to connect a Stripe account to Guesty, pre-register for a Stripe account.

Connect a Stripe account

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click More and select Payment processing.
  3. Click the Stripe thumbnail.
  4. At the top-right corner, click Continue.
  5. In the pop-up, click Get started.
  6. Enter your Stripe login details.
  7. Click Next.

Tip:

The value you enter in Stripe under "Business" is used to identify the specific Stripe account in Guesty.

Transactions made directly in Stripe's dashboard are not displayed in Guesty. Learn how to record payments that were collected externally in Guesty.

Once Stripe is connected to Guesty, you can start collecting payments right away. However, we recommend making sure your account verification process with Stripe has been completed. Please contact Stripe for further assistance.

Activate a Stripe account

You can process credit card transactions in Guesty by connecting a Stripe payment processing account.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click More and select Payment processing.
  3. Locate the account you want to activate and click the horizontal ellipsis at the right end of the row.
  4. Select Activate account.

Set up SCA (Strong Customer Authentication)

Stripe is an external payment processor used in Guesty. In order to prepare your account for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), you may be required to answer the following question in Stripe's Dashboard:

Question: "Do you use partner solutions to process payments with Stripe?"

Answer: "No, all payments are processed directly through the Stripe API."

Bank account settings

The bank account where Stripe deposits funds collected from guests cannot be set in Guesty. Bank account settings can be changed directly in Stripe. Please refer to Stripe's documentation on this matter.

Credit card verification

Credit card verification is a crucial step in payment processing, where where the credit card is validated against the issuing bank. This process is essential in improving risk management, lowering the possibility of chargebacks and refunds, and preventing fraudulent activity. "Know Your Customer" (KYC) obligations require Stripe to verify accounts in several different ways.

Additional fees

Following your account agreement with Guesty, Guesty will charge a percentage of all funds processed through Stripe. The fee is collected by Stripe, alongside their own fee for payment processing.
